The Ombud
The news industry has continuously failed to understand the reader and the big picture. For the last 65 years, the industry has never managed to share the same growth for readership levels as the population. But most if not all "big-J" Journalists allege the Internet and advertising revenues are the most pressing concerns.
Bob Cauthorn suggests the industry has been getting the product wrong all along. He put together statistics from the U.S. Census and Editor & Publisher (see graph), totaling daily, afternoon and Sunday circulation.
I'm here to find out what readers want. The Ombud is currently a portfolio for employers, but its development is open to evolving RSS technology, conceptual innovations and breakthroughs from "Journalism," and what readers want -- rather than what editors think they want or need.
